Just a bit of a preview before I unveil the full scene...
Here’s a peek at the clock tower atop Vienna’s Rathaus (City Hall). The shot is taken from the Stadtpark Volksgarten (thanks, Karla) which sits across the street from the Rathaus and adjacent to Burg Theater. It is wonderful to have such green space so close to the major attractions and buildings.
They talk about New England weather – if you don’t like it just wait a minute and it will change. Vienna weather is the exact same...constantly changing. This shot was taken about 1 hour before yesterday’s shot...and the skies were far more dark and gloomy for this one.
I like the overcast effect on this. The dark skies and shadows in the trees add to the effect for me – perhaps that's because I am getting spoiled with the perfect sunny days and blue skies here. The lilacs are out and sit nice on the darker background...
I'll save a full write up of the Rathaus for when I 'unveil' it in the near future. Until then a bit of Info below.

Info for Info Lovers:
Vienna’s City Hall (Rathaus) holds the office of the mayor of the city of Vienna, the governor of the state of Vienna, the Assembly and the City Council. It was built in a neo-Gothic style by Friedriech von Schimdt between 1872 and 1883. This 321 feet building is the most important secular work of this style in the city. On the top of the tower sits the "Iron Knight of City Hall" (Eiserner Rathausmann), which is one of the symbols of Vienna.

Lush, green and, in'spired'? The Clock tower draws you into the scene. Wonderful.

If that's the case, Vienna is worse than Melbourne. Here we wait 5 minutes !

Very nice colours in this one! I love how structures peak out of nature like this. Very creative perspective.

I'm sorry - isn't it the Volksgarten that is attached to the Burgtheater? The Stadtpark is across the Ring! Either way, great shot!

Before I read your info I thought that it was taken late in the day I like the overcast sky too, it softens the light and contrast and boosts the saturation a bit. Very nice the way the tower pops out of all that green.

beautifully quiet...i think this piece is wonderful...after having lived in Wien for 11 years, this reminds me of friday evenings where most people were home before preparing for a night out on the town. Very warm.
