Break Dance III: The Real Deal Break Dance III: The Real Deal

Unless some Holywood mogul approaches me, this is most likely the last snap in my Break Dance saga. Hey, now at least we can call it a trilogy. And like all good series, I'll leave a slight crack in the door open for another...just in case ;))

I really liked the juxtoposition (a big $0.50 word for a Saturday) of old and new in this. I'm not sure yesterday's hero Anton Pilgram would have expected this in front of St. Stephan's when we was working on the pulpit.

This group breakdancers has been performing in the streets - often in the center of Vienna - since I've been here (about three years). It seems they've come a long way - they appear to have picked up some sponsoring from Adidas - notice the sweats, sneakers, t's, etc. Some smart marketing exec - keen to the powers of guerilla marketing - probably floated the idea for this one. :)

Lins to the other Break Dance shots here and here.

I know photographers say shoot from a different height, and if you aren't shooting good pictures you aren't shooting close enough (or something along those lines), but I think added height and looking a bit more down on the crowds would help make the shot more interesting.

Or perhaps do the opposite, go for a lower angle, and emphasize the tall spires

Yep, the contrast between old and new here is what drew me into the shot. Don't see anything like this these days around Boston - plenty of plastic can drummers, but no breakers...

I'm glad to see the 80s revival has made it to Austria! That said, I really like the juxtaposition of b-boys and a historic cathedral with a nice patina on it.
