Female Protection Female Protection

OK - back to reality. I hope you all had a nice Christmas. The cupboard got pretty bare towards the end there... (the supply chest of Christmas-related photos was pretty thin). Today I will get a bit back into Zoom reality and give you a little architecture.

Here's a new shot of the Vienna Parliament on the Ring. It's a tight shot of the roof picturing a female statue and the Austrian flag against the great blue skies...

I had to get my camera fixed here in the US and it turns out Canon no longer makes the Powershot Pro1...so I had to upgrade. I got a Canon Rebel XT digital SLR. It's a big step. The training wheels are off. I just graduated to the next step as a photographer...now if I can only figure out how to make it shoot ;))

It is going to be interesting back in Vienna...watch out for the bumps.

hi tom, the female statue you pictured is:
A monumental fountain bearing a marble statue of the goddess Pallas Athena (over 5 m in height) and six allegorical figures towers in front of the ramps leading up to the parliament building. The statues represent Execution of Laws (seated on the left) and Legislation (lying on the right); in front are the Inn and Danube rivers, and towards the ramp the Elbe and Moldau (Vltava) rivers. These rivers were the main waterways of the kingdoms and provinces represented in the Imperial Parliament. The statues are made of marble from Laas, while the superstructure and the basin are of granite.

The fountain is flanked by two steel flagpoles (approx. 30 m high). The red-white-and-red flag of Austria is hoisted on the flagpoles whenever the National Council, the Federal Council or the Federal Assembly are in session.

Beautiful shot. The colors and sharpness of the details are great.

Congratulations on the new camera. I'm envious.

Hi Tom, the image was both powerful and unrelenting. It's safe to say that it brought me right back to my Vienna days, days when female protection was not on anyone's mind at all. I feel so much safer now, more complete and thanks to you, more willing to expose the inner woman in me.
