Northern Ceiling Light Northern Ceiling Light

Here's a gem from a recent museum tour...

The best I can tell from Google, is that this ceiling mural is called "Apollo and Aurora" and was done by Carlone, Carlo (1686-1775). It represents the victory of light over darkness. It is a ceiling fresco (after 1721) in the Garden Hall of Schloss Belvedere, in the Vienna Belvedere Palace.

Aurora Borealis of a different kind. Either way, it's pretty amazing.

The chandelier tells me that this isn't just a photograph of a painting, but at the same time distracts me.

I don't know man, does taking pictures of existing art count as a good photograph? Definately not one of your better ones. =P

Its not one of my favourites, but i do like how you took it from an unconventional perspective, not choosing to rotate it (though that would look odd with the inclusion of the chandelier) or taking it from another angle.

I love this shot -- the softness of the ceiling art contrasts with the starkness of the chandelier.

Do you really think this is new thing? Your blog is really good to me, I read it to get useful info, but sometimes I'm bored to tears.
